I can’t thank you all enough for the love and support you have given to Tiny Fish Co. in this last year. It has gone by simultaneously so slowly and very quickly and has been a source of both incredible joy and pride, as well as frustration and anxiety. The start of the year was a tough one. The pandemic was still wreaking havoc in the world and I found myself in a deep, dark tunnel of wondering whether I had made the worst decision of my life by jumping off this small business cliff. I wanted to give up. And, I almost did. I am so grateful for all my friends and peers who pulled me out of that dark spiral and encouraged me to just take it one day at a time. Spring brought with it not only sunshine, but a world that was opening up again. I was able to finally release each of my 4 products and begin to work with a local distributor based in Portland. I focused on doing what I do best and what truly brings happiness to my life, cooking, and through this I was able to promote and market Tiny Fish Co. in a unique way that is authentically me. Summer was a whirlwind of travel and pop-ups and it seemed like every week more and more people were inquiring about how to get their hands on some tiny fish. My sales increased substantially and the fear that I might not sell through my inventory had eased a bit. I was still knocking on wood every chance I got, but the puzzle pieces seemed to all be coming together finally. Fall quickly crept in and brought with it some early snow and a little slow down. I started to become anxious again about the state of Tiny Fish Co. Then, I received an email from Food & Wine magazine, explaining that they would be recommending Tiny Fish Co. products in it's holiday gift issue! This ramped up momentum again and we have been hustling and bustling ever since. The biggest lesson I learned this year is to have more trust and faith in myself. The ebb and flow of business, and life for that matter, is a part of the process. Bumps in the road are going to happen, but what actually matters most is how quickly you dust yourself off and keep charging forward. I am excited for what the new year will bring, not only with Tiny Fish Co., but in my personal life as well (for once!), and, again, can't begin to thank you all enough for joining me for even just a small part of this wild ride. Happy Holidays! xo, Sara
